Upstream High Tide Paddle

[High Tide: ~7.1 feet]

When the tide rises, the river reveals a hidden world.

Join The Floathouse crew for a gentle, guided paddle upstream on a high tide of just over 7 feet, when the Petaluma River opens into its quieter, greener reaches. With extra water beneath us, we’re able to glide beyond the downtown channel and into a tranquil tidal slough—an ever-changing habitat rich with birdlife and natural beauty.

Book your upstream adventure here. ($60/person includes gear, guide and nature’s awesomeness.)

As we drift upstream, keep an eye out for great egrets, blue herons, snowy egrets, turtles basking along the banks, and the lush plant life that thrives where freshwater and tides meet. The pace is unhurried, the water is calm, and the experience is deeply grounding—many guests say they can feel their stress melt away within minutes.

Along the way, our guide shares stories of the flora, fauna, and human history that have shaped this upper channel—from its ecological importance to its role in Petaluma’s past as a working river. You’ll come away with a deeper appreciation for how close this wild place is to the heart of downtown.
