With extra water beneath us, we’re able to glide beyond the downtown channel and into a tranquil tidal slough—an ever-changing habitat rich with birdlife and natural beauty.

This easy outing in high-quality Hobie pedal kayaks is designed to give you the best of both worlds, water and land. On Saturday, December 6th, ride an 8.1-foot tide on a magical upstream paddle—this special tide opens up the river in all its glory.
Float past historic Gold Rush-era buildings, then glide into serene wetlands, surrounded by willows, bulrushes, and soaring herons. The combination of this massive tide and the winter season creates an awe-inspiring natural landscape, with box turtles, seasonal waterfalls, and more waiting to be discovered. This is a rare opportunity to explore Petaluma’s natural paradise, right in the center of town.
No experience is necessary—just bring your sense of wonder and get ready to float through one of Petaluma’s best-kept secrets.

Petaluma’s favorite pre-Santa splash! The Turkey Relay on Nov. 29 features team relays, costumes, and river fun. Check in and launch at North Bay Rowing Club/The Boatyard, 625 2nd Street, Petaluma, CA. Teams assigned by River Town Racers elves. $30 preregistration; Bring your own watercraft or rent from The Floathouse for $10/craft.
