🍓 Strawberry Moon Paddle / Pedal
Sunday, June 28, 2026 | 7:30–9:30 pm
Join us for a warm summer evening on the Petaluma River under the Strawberry Moon, a name shared by many Native American cultures to mark the season of ripening fruit, blooming plants, and new life.
This guided nighttime paddle in Hobie pedal kayaks is playful, easy, and perfect for lingering summer light and rising moonshine. Pedal along with your community as the river reflects the glow of early summer.
June’s Full Moon is known by many names, each rooted in seasonal rhythms:
Strawberry Moon — Algonquin, Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota peoples; the time when wild strawberries were ready to gather
Berries Ripen Moon — Haida; marking the ripening of fruits
Blooming Moon — Anishinaabe; celebrating peak flowering season
Green Corn Moon — Cherokee; signaling the tending of crops
Hoer Moon — Western Abenaki; associated with agricultural work
Hot Moon — An 18th-century term recorded by Captain Jonathan Carver, reflecting early summer heat
Birth Moon — Tlingit; the season when animals give birth
Egg Laying Moon / Hatching Moon — Cree; marking new life emerging across the land
These names remind us that this moon is about abundance, growth, and connection—perfect themes for an evening on the water.
