Fun Petaluma River Races—for All

Summer starts here.

Join us for a low-key morning of lighthearted racing, paddling, and river fun in the heart of downtown Petaluma.

Funky finish line and all, these races are for anyone who wants to join in…

The Fun Petaluma River Races are exactly what they sound like: a chance to challenge yourself, cheer on your friends, try something new, and spend time on the water with a community of people who love the Petaluma River.

Whether you're a seasoned racer, a curious first-timer, or someone who simply wants an excuse to take your boat out for a spin, you're welcome here.

Participants can choose from 1-, 2-, or 4-mile out-and-back courses on the Petaluma River. New this year, we're adding an 800-meter Technical Race in the Turning Basin, featuring four buoy turns that test boat handling, strategy, and turning skills. Try it once, try it twice, or just watch and learn.

Bring your own kayak, paddle board, canoe, surfski, rowing shell, outrigger, or other human-powered craft, or rent one of The Floathouse's beginner-friendly boats or boards for just $35 for the duration of the event.

We'll keep time for anyone who wants it, but this event is about participation, not podiums. There are no entry fees and no prizes—just a great day on the water.
